Libraries in lockdown

Sarah Mann, the College Librarian, provides an update on library services in Oxford.

College and Bodleian library staff are all busy on getting more resources to readers digitally. You’re probably getting bombarded with information from lots of different places, so here are a few quick tips and reminders:

Though the college library is closed, I can retrieve books for scanning – so if there’s something in the college library you would find useful, please suggest it to your tutor. Many publishers have helpfully agreed to a temporary increase in how much we can copy, up from 10% to 30%, which makes this definitely worth considering.

More ebooks are becoming available all the time, and there’s a delay sometimes before they are visible in SOLO. So if there’s something you really need to get hold of, please do get in touch with me. I’m keeping tabs on the various new sources and I may be able to find something to help.

Do make use of the Bodleian Live Chat facility (now 9am–7pm every weekday and 10am–7pm at weekends) – it’s staffed by Bodleian librarians who will probably be able to give you the answer you need. There’s a link to it on the right-hand side of the main SOLO catalogue page

And, finally, keep checking your subject LibGuide. They have loads of helpful information from Bodleian subject librarians, and they are being updated all the time.
