Trust me, I’m a doctor: Mind squirrels

During lockdown, many of us have taken the opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, with some of us dipping our toes into the practices of meditation and yoga for the first time.

It’s not easy though – particularly in a modern world full of noise and distractions. Dr Bethany, can you help?

How do I meditate when my mind is full of squirrels?

“Squirrel mind” is a classic conundrum of meditation. All these little voices, squeaking, squirming, chattering. Thinking of tomorrow, thinking of yesterday. All of these draw you away from this one moment that you actually have: right here, right now.

I suggest you torch those little mind suckers.

Then have a mind squirrel BBQ.

“Mind Squirrel BBQ”, by the way, is an excellent name for the cutting-edge emo-transcendental band that you will create as a result of your psychedelic meditation experience in your new-found mental quiet. Go ahead, form the band.

Trust me, I’m a doctor.
