Joint Public Issues Team have released a new preaching resource for 2021 – and the host is a Regent’s alumna!

Politics in the Pulpit is Joint Public Issues Team‘s new (controversially named) lectionary based preaching podcast and vlog hosted by Revd Beth Allison-Glenny. Beth is Public Issues Enabler for the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and an ordained Baptist minister who has previously pastored churches in Oxford and Leicestershire.

She is also an alumna of the College, having been a Ministerial student and read for the MTh Applied Theology, 2011.

Revd Beth Allison-Glenny

Beth describes the podcast/vlog:

In weekly episodes, we’ll ask how reclaiming the justice issues present in the biblical texts helps us to be good news in the world today. Each week, we will host a different guest, discussing the political dimensions present in the Scriptures and reflecting on how they connect with the week’s current news and our role in the Kingdom of God.

Episodes are released weekly, on Tuesday mornings, and the discussions will focus on the Revised Common Lectionary passages for the following Sunday. They’ll be available as either a vlog or a podcast.

In Episode 1 Beth talks about the lectionary readings for Sunday 21st February (Genesis 9:8-17, Psalm 25:1-10, Mark 1:9-15 and 1 Peter 3:18-22) in conversation with Hannah Rich, a senior researcher at Theos Think Tank and a part of Christians on the Left.
